Since 2014, Donbas (Donetsk and Luhansk regions) have been the site of the Russian invasion and Ukrainian resistance.

For 8 years, it has suffered from armed clashes, shelling by Russian artillery, and crimes in the areas occupied by Russia-backed mercenaries and Russian occupation forces.

Well, we love doing sports! You've surely heard the names of Ukrainian legends like Klitschko brothers, Andriy Shevchenko, Elina Svitolina, Serhiy Bubka... Many of us are great football fans. We are especially strong in boxing and other combat sports, athletics, swimming, biathlon, chess, tennis. Even cybersport!

Since February 24, a lot of sporting facilities were ruined by Russian missiles. 89 athletes and coaches were killed. Many athletes joined the fight to defend Ukraine. And many Ukrainian athletes continue to compete and proudly represent Ukraine at the international events despite everything.

How ukrainians are mentally so resilient?

Hmmm. First, this is maybe our unbroken optimism and cheerfulness. You might be surprised but there are Ukrainians who start new businesses during the war, companies that grow(!), people who create the vision of our future right now. This is our superpower - even in the darkest times we search for light. Or we even create light.

Second, we all know #WhatWeAreFightingFor. We are fighting for our beloved Ukraine, for the freedom of the whole world, for the everyone's right to be who you are. We have no other choice than stay resilient and continue to do the best we can do to let the victory happen. We support each other and unite.
